The Ceilidh House

Come into the parlour at the exciting and recently opened Ceilidh House in the ancient Market quarter of Newry.

The Ceilidh House is unique in Ireland. It is a small shop with a world wide audience.

It is Northern Ireland's first centre for the study and research of the Fairy Kingdom. Since its opening by the Mayor people have been coming into share their experiences of the fairy world. Not only that but the Ceilidh House now has art work from Iceland with a Newry connection.

The director of the Centre, local poet and folklorist Mearns Pollock is supporting villages in Zimbabwe by selling their crafts. The money goes to support Zimbabweans forced to flee and living in Northern Ireland.
The Ceilidh House is becoming a centre for poets, musicians, artists, writers, playwrights and dancers.

The Market Quarter for years has been silent but now with the sound of pipes, poetry and the displays from local painters the Ceilidh House is showcasing the rich culture of NEWRY and MOURNE. During the summer months, Mearns is collecting stories about the market for the Story Finders website.
